Lederhosen Lucil was born in Yamabierstein City in 1998. After being released from the genetic mutation lab, Lucil began to explore the world through laughter and music, using her alter ego’s life stories to explore the frailty and hilarity of humankind.
Lucil released her first album in 1999 -- a 6-track cassette -- recorded in the Hawksleytown Studio in Toronto. After playing numerous shows with Hawksley Workman, Parkside Jones, Shivaree, Rachel Smith, and numerous haus parties, Lederhosen Lucil met the Fembots and musically there was bondage!
In 2001 Lucil came out with her first 10-song CD Frozenhosen, recorded at the Fembots Junkshop, which featured such sleeper hits as “Love Bites from an EKG” and “All Good Scabs."
Soon orders poured in from around the world for her traditional hosemusik, and Lucil found herself opening for bands like Stereo Total, Momus, and Weeping Tile. After selling out of a limited number of Frozenhosen CD’s, Lucil is now proud to present her fully re-mastered 13-track CD Hosemusik (Frozenhosen plus 3 special edition tracks: "You Suck," "Annaphylaxis," & "Natural Light"), released on April 9th, 2002.
Mixing carnival waltzes with rap, rock, ska, country, new wave, and rockabilly, Lucil puts the oomph in umlaut. For both the sensible and the nonsensical, Lucil has a musical treat for everyone!
Yet ein nother alt bio...
Montreal resident Krista Muir, through her mischievous alter ego Lederhosen Lucil, has done much to support the notion that one can be pretty weird and still make really phenomenal pop music. Her music, played on vintage keyboards, is ridiculously catchy, genre defying, often hilarious and frequently compelling. Her stage persona - a German-accented mutant complete with blonde braids, a taste for dried apricots, and a growing wardrobe of faux-hosen - has captured the imagination of audiences world-wide with a lightning-fast wit.
Shortly after having released her 2nd full-length album Tales From The Pantry, it ranked high on Canadian indie charts and became one of Earshot's Top 50 albums of 2003. Immediately following its release, Lucil toured North America and Europe with friend and co-conspirator DJ Kid Koala and her cult following grew. Her songs have made her a favorite of Ninja Tune DJ Kid Koala, Matador Records' Mary Timony and LA ska oddsters the Aquabats.
Since the release of her "Apricota" single in November 2004, Lederhosen Lucil has spent much of 2005 touring Australia, New Zealand, Texas, and throughout Europe.
Most recently Krista Muir has released a full-colour art book exploring the 8 eye candy filled years of Lederhosen Lucil entitled The Joy of Hosen: Lederhosen Lucil Up Close und Pictorial published by Mudscout Media. She is currently busy developing a television series "Tales From The Pantry" with filmmaker Kara Blake as well as recording and touring with her new band "Lucille."
