I made it back in one piece with a sinus infection and a bag filled with strange artifacts and sweets from the road. Shane Watt & I drove down to New Mexico and back putting over 17,000km on the uncomfy rental (Yaris - don't recommend for long distance traveling unless of course you are a yogi). We played many shows along the way while rolling along 3/4 of historic Route 66 and all its mystical roadside attractions. Oh, the dilapidated and haunted hotels! Oh the neon signs! Here are just a few pics from the trip. For many more visit Krista's Tour Photo Emporium

En route to Nashville we stopped at a really amazing truck stop that had Chuck Wagon dining tables. They even had an area set up for bands and when we inquired about playing the emo punk girl behind the counter sighed and told us that they have the same bluegrass band every Friday and that they play the same songs and that no, she didn’t think we’d be able to play.

In Nashville we spent most of our time eating delicious doughnuts, watching old movies and writing new songs. Shane took me out to a very sweet tea house for a very liberal “High Tea”.

Another surprise was the life sized replica of the Parthenon in Nashville! Sadly it was closed the day we were there so no “Athena” photo opps on the inside but the outside was quite spectacular. Nashville – who knew?

In Austin we played outdoors (brrrr!) at Club Deville . My first time performing while wearing a fall coat!

The day after the Houston show at the Proletariat with DJ Jester, Mikey, Shane, Aaron, Jerrod and I had a picnic by the giant presidential heads. Aaron and Jerrod both happened upon the ‘heads’ by accident as it’s in an industrial part of Houston.

In San Antonio Barney Smith kept his Toilet Seat museum open for us. When you have a few hours before sound check what better way to spend it!

En route to Marfa, TX from San Antone. The Marfa Gang taking time out for a little visit to the Alley Oop Roadside park.

Rocking Ray's Bar with Juan who earlier on fed us and stoked the fire in a giant teepee at his BBQ joint.

On the way out of Marfa we pulled over to visit the "Prada" art installation in the middle of nowhere.

One of the Route 66 sites...

Another Route 66 attraction. Check out our little rental car parked on the right! It is the Largest Cross in the Western Hemisphere...

At long last we were getting ready to step out of the Silver Yaris and back into the land of public transportation and walking. NO MORE CAR!!! In celebration, the morning after the Dakota Tavern show, Shane & I took the rental to a car wash on Queen St.

Upon returning from the one month roller coaster ride tour with friend and musical co-conspirator Shane Watt, I fell under the spell of a deep, ugly headcold that has left me bedridden. Today I checked my email to find that Stefanos Rokos painted me into his latest exhibition! This piece "The Garden" was inspired by a photo Stefanos took of me while I was serenading the dogs and cats in his backyard in Athens, Greece this past October. Immortalized at last I am unafraid of death! Kind of. Well, it troubles me from time to time.
I am currently working on the photos for the tour diary so as of Monday, there will be a doozy of a photo journal for y'all to see! It includes moments from Route 66, shows in Texas and beyond, silly antics with DJ Jester and more...
